10 most Dangerous Birds in The World

Birds are beautiful creatures with eye catching plumage and outstanding beauty. But some birds are there who can kill people and even lions. So here is my list of 10 most dangerous birds in the world.

1. Lammergeier

A Lammergeier (Gypaetus barbatus) is a large carrion eating bearded vulture that has black plumage and can grow up to about two meters in height. It belongs to the family of birds known as Old World Vultures. They are located in Africa, Europe, and Asia. It is at the moment considered an endangered species. Lammergeier preys on animals which includes leopards, snakes, and many birds. Its huge and powerful and has an angry looking face and thus included in my 10 most dangerous birds of the world.

 

2. Golden Eagle

Golden eagle (Aquila chrysaetos) is among one of the most fearless and powerful birds in the world. what makes them so powerful is their size and beak which allows them to hunt animals up to 10 times their own size. They often carry and eat wolfs, wild goats, sheep’s, cattle of people and even human children. Eagles, I include in my list of the most dangerous winged creatures in existence.

 

3. Hawks

The western brown kite (Milvus), which lives in the deserts of Australia and Africa, is one of the most aggressive birds in the world. I am adding them in my 10 most dangerous birds in the world list. It will dive for distances of up to 300 feet to catch a prey item. These kites are also known as kestrels or savannah hawks. The name hawk is derived from the word “hawking” when people use trained birds of prey for hunting hares and wild animals.

 

4. New Caledonian Crow

The New Caledonian Crow (Corvus moneduloides) is one of the Topmost dangerous birds in the world. These birds are very intelligent as they use their beak as fishing hook and hold up or tear apart large pieces of wood, carry and dip that piece of stick into holes to get at insects from inside. Caledonian crows also make and use and other tools in the wild. They attack on head and make big holes in it by injuring it. I am definitely adding Caledonian crow in my 10 most dangerous birds of the world.

 

5. Cassowary

Cassowaries (Casuarius Casuarius) are large, flightless birds that roam in the rainforests of Australia, New Guinea and northeastern parts of Indonesia. These birds have clawed feet which they use to slice through undergrowth. They can attack and kill humans and are among the world’s 10 most dangerous birds in the world. Cassowaries mostly eat fruits and insects, but they sometimes prey on smaller animals such as frogs or mice. These birds are very aggressive, and one should not ignore them on any cost.

 

6. Ostrich

Ostriches (Struthio camelus), have extremely powerful legs, and a weight which reach up to 250 kg (550 pounds). They are one of the topmost dangerous birds in the world. A full-grown male ostrich has a kick so powerful it can cause fatal wounds with just one strike, and there are stories about these kicks can send lions flying away in the air. Other than kicking, ostriches also use their beaks as weapons and attack people by stabbing with their large and lethal beaks.  So, I am adding ostriches in my list of 10 most dangerous birds in the world.

 

7. Ravens

Among the most dangerous birds in the world, ravens (Corvus corax) might not be well-known for their malicious ways. Yet, these birds are still dangerous to animals and people. The raven might not be an extremely aggressive bird, but it will still defend its territory against intruders namely humans and can harm people or pets that cross into its territory. Ravens feed on carrion (dead animal flesh) as well as live prey and sometimes scavenge for human food sources.

 

8. Barred Owl

The Barred Owl (Strix varia) is one of the most widely distributed owls in North America. They are mostly nocturnal and so during the day you will usually see them perching or sleeping on trees. These owls are mostly found in boreal forests or heavily wooded areas and during the evening they will fly from tree-to-tree hunting prey such as squirrels, mice, fish, insects, amphibians, reptiles and other birds. They are not afraid of humans, and they will attack again and again and make a lot of injuries, which can lead to serious wounds and death too.

 

9. Crows

The common Crow (Corvus) is one of the most intelligent birds on earth, second only to humans. With the world’s largest brain to body weight ratio, these highly social and vocal animals are excellent at solving puzzles, playing tricks and learning to use tools. They often interact with people, and their curiosity in human activity sometimes causes problems. Crows attack in groups and have a strong family bonding and can cause serious injuries and are included in 10 most dangerous birds in the world.

 

10. Emu

The emu (Dromaius novaehollandiae) is indigenous to Australia. I am including them in my top 10 most dangerous birds of the world list. The weight of an emu ranges from 30 to 90 kg, and the height from 130 cm to 180 cm. Emus are omnivores. They attack in groups of 7 to 9. They can kill a person by stepping on them with strong legs and hitting with their tough beaks.
